چکیده

Abstract Background To evaluate the feasibility and safety of microcoil in simultaneous localization for multiple pulmonary nodules before video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS). Methods Twenty-eight consecutive patients (26 two-nodule, 2 three-nodule; 58 total; Group A) underwent CT-guided VATS using microcoil. Successful targeting, localization, were defined as implantation at target site on CT image which was obtained immediately after marking procedure, visualization nodule location, complete resection with adequate margin, respectively. Meanwhile, clinical characteristics, procedure-related variables complications group A also assessed compared those a control (221 single-localization procedures 221 patients; B). Results Similar rates successful observed B (96.6% vs. 98.2%; 91.4% 91.0%; 100% 99.1%). Although rate overall (including localized pneumothorax intrapulmonary hemorrhage) bit higher than that (32.8% 30.8%, p = 0.771), only minor subjects two groups no need further treatment. In addition, duration significantly longer single (24 ± 7.5 vs.13 6 min, < 0.001). Conclusions clinically feasible safe acceptable increase procedure time. Compared nodule, localizations prone to hemorrhage. However, statistically significant differences between groups.

CT-guided Hookwire localization before video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery for solitary ground-glass opacity dominant pulmonary nodules: radiologic-pathologic analysis

The optimal screening or treatment strategies of solitary pulmonary nodules especially ground-glass opacities (GGOs) remain controversial. With CT-guided Hookwire localization, it is accurate to find the small lesions during video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS). In this study, we evaluate the efficiency and safety of CT-guided Hookwire localization of GGO-dominant (GGO component > 50%) p...

Video Assisted Thoracic Surgery for Indeterminate Pulmonary Nodules

The approach to patients with indeterminate pulmonary nodules is poorly defined. Should every pulmonary nodule be biopsied, is needle biopsy adequate, and other questions are challenges. Video assisted thoracic surgery or thoracoscopy has added a new diagnostic possibility which is evaluated in this paper. Fifty-five patients underwent thoracoscopy for diagnosis of a solitary pulmonary nodule. ...

CT-Guided Percutaneous Transthoracic Localization of Pulmonary Nodules Prior to Video-Assisted Thoracoscopic Surgery Using Barium Suspension

OBJECTIVE To describe our initial experience with CT-guided percutaneous barium marking for the localization of small pulmonary nodules prior to video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS). MATERIALS AND METHODS From October 2010 to April 2011, 10 consecutive patients (4 men and 6 women; mean age, 60 years) underwent CT-guided percutaneous barium marking for the localization of 10 small pulmo...

Video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery for pulmonary nodules: rationale for preoperative computed tomography-guided hookwire localization.

OBJECTIVES Video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS) provides a minimally invasive means to resect pulmonary nodules (PN). Deep localization of PN may jeopardize VATS lung resection. The aim of this study was to establish the utility of preoperative computed tomography (CT)-guided hookwire localization of PN. METHODS Between January 1993 and September 2001, we performed 151 VATS resections for P...

Video-Assisted Thoracoscopic Surgery after Preoperative CT-Guided Lipiodol Marking of Small or Impalpable Pulmonary Nodules.

PURPOSE Small pulmonary lesions that include ground-glass attenuation have been increasingly discovered because of progressive imaging diagnostic technologies. Despite the detection of such small lesions, sometimes it is quite difficult to localize them because of their size or considerable depth from the visceral pleura. In the present study, we examined the usefulness of computed tomography-g...
